DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson volleyball team will welcome George Mason and George Washington to Belk Arena this weekend for a pair of Atlantic 10 contests. The Wildcats and Patriots will meet first on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., before Davidson takes the court versus the Colonials Sunday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m.

Special Events
Friday's game is Davidson's Student Athlete Advisory Committee's Athlete's Backing Athlete's Game. The first 75 students at the game will receive free Chipotle. After the game, the Davidson volleyball team will host an autograph session. 

Last Time Out
The Wildcats rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Fordham in four sets Sept. 25, before falling to Rhode Island in straight sets Sept. 27.
 
The come-from-behind win came by set scores of 21-25, 25-23, 30-28 and 25-18.
Kelly Friers paced the Davidson offense turning in 13 kills, while Emily Franklin, Sabrina Shepherd and Ciera Cockrell added nine kills apiece. At Rhode Island, Franklin had five kills, with Friers and Shepherd chipping in four strikes apiece.
 
Block Party
Davidson enters the weekend ranked third in the conference in blocks pet set with an average of 2.42. Emily Franklin ranks sixth individually, with 1.06 blocks pet set, while Sabrina Shepherd sits in seventh with 1.02 blocks pet set.
 
Home Court Advantage
Davidson posted a 3-0 record at John M. Belk Arena at the Wildcat Classic, Sept. 4-5. The Wildcats are 17-20 at home during the tenure of seniors Gaylen Fronk, Morgan Shannon, Michelle McNeight, Layne Docston and Hannah Rau. This weekend's matches are part of a four-match homestand for the Wildcats.
 
Rookie on the Rise
Freshman Sabrina Shepherd has made an immediate impact for Davidson. The Cave Spring, Ark., native currently leads the conference with a .406 hitting percentage, while ranking seventh in blocks pet set (1.02).
 
Can You Dig It?
Davidson enters the weekend ranked fourth in the A-10 in digs per set (14.21). Senior Morgan Shannon, the starting libero for the Wildcats, is averaging 3.72 digs per set, which good for fourth in the Atlantic 10.
 
Scouting George Mason (5-10, 0-1 A-10)
George Mason enters the weekend with a 5-10 overall record, and a 0-1 mark in A-10 play. The Patriots most recently fell at George Washington, 3-1. George Mason comes to Davidson looking to snap a five-match losing skid that dates back to Sept. 12.
 
Morghan Martin paces the George Mason offense with 2.76 kills per set and a .198 hitting percentage, while Tiffany Clarke is registering 2.16 strikes per set. Montana Green and Caitlyn Hipsher have split setting duties, averaging 8.09 and 7.59 assists per set, respectively.
 
Defensively, Lola Owokoniran is a force at the net, averaging 1.31 blocks per set, good for second in the A-10. Jelena Cobanovic (2.62 digs per set) and Erica Partridge (2.39 digs per set) anchor the back row for the Patriots.
 
Scouting George Washington (11-5, 1-0 Atlantic 10)
George Washington carries a 1-0 A-10 record, and owns an 11-5 mark on the year after defeating George Mason, 3-1, last weekend. The Colonials rank at the top of the A-10 in kills per set (13.34, third), assists per set (12.60, second) and blocks per set (2.48, first).
 
Individually, Chidima Osuchukwu is a threat for the Colonials on either side of the ball, rankings third in the conference with 4.06 kills per set to go along with a .350 hitting percentage, the fifth-best among conference leaders. Osuchukwu also leads the conference with 1.42 blocks per frame. Maggie Skjelbred is averaging 2.19 kills per set, while hitting at the .294 clip, good for 10th in the conference. Jordan Timmer has averaged 11.19 assists per set as the team's primary setter and is second in the conference. On the defensive side, Maddy Doyle is second in the A-10 with 4.27 digs per set.
