Davidson Drops Match at Duquesne in Four Sets

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Davidson volleyball team fell to Duquesne in four sets on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats got off to a strong start in the first set. The 'Cats posted a .452 hitting percentage and won the first frame 25-21. The Dukes responded and took the second set 25-15. Duquesne only had one attack error and recorded seven blocks in the second frame.
In the third set, Davidson trailed 21-15 and then closed the gap. The Wildcats went on 4-0 run, but ultimately dropped the third set 25-22.
Duquesne won the fourth set 25-21.
Cayla Weisner and Mia Compas combined for 16 kills and four block assists. Weisner finished with a .500 hitting percentage and Compas recorded a .278 hitting percentage. Elena Garcia-Guerrios led Davidson with 14 kills on the afternoon.
Ylame Dsamou and Kinsey Smith totaled 46 assists. Dsamou sparked Davidson at the service line with a career-high three aces. Jordan Hummel added 24 digs.
