SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Despite finishing with one of their best attacking percentages of the season, the Davidson Wildcats couldn't match Wofford's 60 kills and fell to the Terriers 3-1 at Benjamin Johnson Gym Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats hit .254 as a team with three players hitting .500 or better. Caroline Brown notched another double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs, also posting a career-high nine blocks (one solo, eight assists). Hannah Rau finished with 12 kills and eight digs, putting up five block assists. Also adding five blocks was Emily Franklin, who finished hitting .571 with eight kills.

Tindall Sewell led the team with an attacking percentage of .625, slamming down five kills in the process. Sewell was also credited with eight block assists. Taylor Pisel hit .267 with seven kills and a trio of block assists as well.

Mikayla Derochie hit .571 with four kills and eight digs while assisting on 37 of the Cats' 49 kills. Anastasia Owen collected a match-high 23 digs, while Sarah Roberts notched a pair of aces for the squad. The Wildcats' 16 errors was their third-lowest of the season, while their 16.0 team blocks is their second-best output of the season.

Hitting .193 as a team, Wofford was led by Taylor Baird's 18 kills and Amanda Ligouri's 15. Bekah Dorsey finished with 48 assists and 17 digs, while Elizabeth Buterbaugh and Baird each collected four block assists.

After playing to a 10-10 tie, four straight Terrier errors put the Wildcats in front 16-14. A kill from Derochie kept them ahead, 19-17, but a block by Burnett and Baird combined with a Davidson error pushed the set in favor of the Terriers at 21-20. Two more Wofford miscues knotted the score at 22-22, but the Terriers claimed the final three points for the 25-22 win.

Three straight Terrier errors again put Davidson ahead; this time in set two by a score of 10-5. A pair of Rau kill stretched the advantage to 14-7, while a trio from Brown set the score at 21-13. Brown soon added another, while Rau put down a pair to give the Wildcats the 25-14 win and tie the match 1-1.

It was the Terriers turn to roll in set three, taking a 15-12 lead on a kill from Wendy Burnett. Davidson was able to even the score on two Wofford errors and would do so again on a kill from Brown to put the set at 18-18. However, the Terriers claimed six of the last seven points to take set three 25-20 and lead 2-1 in the match.

Wofford scored six straight to take a 15-7 advantage, thought the Cats came up with a trio of points to cut the deficit to four at 16-12.  Two kills from Rau went with a kill from Franklin and a pair of Davidson blocks to tie the score at 20-20. Sewell came up with a big kill, but Baird would put down two in a row to give the 25-23 win to the Terriers for the 3-1 match victory.

Davidson returns home to host a pair of SoCon rematches next weekend. The Cats welcome Western Carolina to Belk Arena on Friday for a 7 p.m. match, followed by Appalachian State on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest.
