Wildcats to Host Samford, Chattanooga this Weekend

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Wildcat volleyball team welcomes SoCon foes Samford and Chattanooga to Belk Arena for a pair of matches this weekend. The 'Cats will face the Bulldogs Saturday evening in a 6 p.m. contest before taking on the Lady Mocs Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Samford arrives at Belk Arena for a regular season contest for the first time in nearly two years. The squads last met in last season's SoCon tournament, with the top-ranked Bulldogs taking the match 3-0. This season, Samford enters the match at 11-9 overall and 2-3 in SoCon Play with a league-best attacking percentage of .253. Also ranking second in kills with 13.48 per set, the Bulldogs are led by Kate Murphy (.389 hitting pct.) and Michaela Reesor (3.84 kills per set).

SCOUTING THE LADY MOCS
Chattanooga boasts a 3-17 overall mark and a 2-3 conference record prior to this weekend. The Lady Mocs took last season's meeting, 3-1, in Tennessee. This season, Chattanooga ranks sixth in the SoCon in services aces with 1.17 per set and are fifth in digs at 15.90 per set. Allie Davenport leads the league with 0.49 aces per set for a total of 72 on the season, while Melissa Green is 10th in the SoCon with 3.69 digs per set.

FOUR IN A ROW
Mikayla Derochie became the first freshman to win the SoCon Freshman of the Week honor for four consecutive weeks when she earned the accolade for her part in helping the squad go 2-1 last week. She averaged 9.62 assists for a total of 125 through three matches, also adding in 51 kills.

QUICK HITS
Tindall Sewell posted the two best single-game attacking percentages of the season last week (min. 12 kills), hitting .588 vs. Winthrop before besting herself by hitting .591 vs. UNCG… Caroline Brown had a season-best 22 kills vs. UNCG… The Wildcats' 13.0 team blocks vs. Winthrop were also a season-high.Â
