Men's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight; Defeats Wofford, 67-58

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - # Brendan McKillop# hit five 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead Davidson to a 67-58 victory over Wofford and extend the Wildcats' winning streak to five in Southern Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night in Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Clint Mann posted 12 points and six rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting for the Wildcats (13-12, 7-7). De'Mon Brooks scored 11 points off the bench, and Nik Cochran added eight as Davidson's bench outscored Wofford 24-10.
JP Kuhlman posted eight points and six assists without a turnover, and Jake Cohen posted seven points and six rebounds.
Cameron Rundles and Jamar Diggs each scored 13 points to lead Wofford (13-12, 10-4), while Noah Dahlman finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
The second half saw six lead changes, and Kuhlman gave the 'Cats a lead they would not relinquish with a conventional 3-point play with 7:55 remaining. After two Diggs free throws trimmed the margin to one point, Brooks got another 3-point play, making the score 58-54 with 5:11 left.
McKillop hit his fifth triple of the game, from the top of the key, to make the margin six points with 2:50 to go, but Diggs answered with a quick layup. The Terriers had a chance to work the margin to two, but Rundles missed twice from the charity stripe. Cochran drove the lane and tried a runner that didn't go down on Davidson's next possession, but Mann was there for the tip-in with 1:10 left.
The Wildcats got a defensive stop on Wofford's next possession, and Cochran went 3-of-4 from the foul line the rest of the way to seal the win.
Leading by four points late in the first half, Davidson capped the frame with an 8-2 spurt to open a 37-27 cushion at the break. Mann scored four points during the run, and Ben Allison capped it with a layup.
Davidson withstood an 11-0 Terrier spurt, capped by a pair of Dahlman layups, to start the second half as the Wildcats made just one field goal in the first 8:11 of the frame. Wofford extended its lead to four points, but Cohen hit a triple and McKillop followed that with consecutive 3-pointers to put Davidson back on top, 48-45 with 9:15 remaining.
The Wildcats travel to Furman for a 6 p.m. contest Saturday. The game will be televised live on Comcast Sports Southeast.
