STILLWATER, Okla. — Davidson led early and often, but a late push lifted Oklahoma State by the Wildcats 84-80 in the opening round of the NIT Tuesday night at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena.
With the loss, the Wildcats closed the season 20-14, while the Cowboys (20-14) advanced to face third-seeded Wichita State in the round of 16.
In a game that featured five ties and 10 lead changes, it was a Daniel Guetta 3-pointer with 3:59 left that gave the Cowboys a 73-71 lead and, ultimately, put them in front for good. Davidson got within a bucket multiple times down the stretch, including when a Roberts Blums layup cut it to 82-80 with eight seconds remaining. But Cowboys guard Kanye Clary closed it out with two free throws.

But Oklahoma State opened the second half on an 11-2 run, making it a tight contest from there.
Blums hit 6-of-14 shots from beyond the arc, while Josh Scovens added 10 points for the Wildcats.
Clary scored 20 and led five Cowboys in double figures.
