Victor Taylor '24 Returns As Assistant Coach & Director of Student Athlete Development

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Victor Taylor '24 has been added to the Davidson men's basketball staff, head coach Matt McKillop announced. He is set to serve as an Assistant Coach and the Director of Student Athlete Development.
"It means everything to me to come back home to Davidson and rejoin this program," said Victor. "I am incredibly grateful to Coach McKillop and the rest of the staff for trusting me to fill this role."
Taylor was an undergraduate student at Davidson College from 2020-2024. He spent time as a student manager for the men's basketball team each season during this span. Taylor was also the head manager for two seasons with the Wildcats.
"Victor brings incredible work ethic, a genuine passion for coaching, and a selfless approach to serving the program," explained head coach Matt McKillop. "During his four years as a student manager, he made it clear that his goal was to build a career in coaching, and he consistently put in the time and effort to prepare himself for that opportunity."
Matt McKillop watched Taylor grow each year as a student while at Davidson and around the men's basketball program.
"What stands out most is how intentional Victor was about his development," added McKillop. "He never approached the student manager role as just a job. He viewed it as an opportunity to learn every aspect of coaching."
Before returning to Davidson, Taylor spent about two months as an assistant coach for the Francis Marion men's basketball team.
Prior to this, Taylor spent roughly two years at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. During the 2024-25 season, he was a graduate assistant for the men's basketball team. His responsibilities included managing team travel, video analysis, and player development.
Taylor was elevated to the Director of Operations role for the 2025-26 campaign at Mercer. On top of the same responsibilities as a GA, he also became the point of contact for all housing assignments, created analytic models to determine offensive and defensive efficiencies within practice, and managed the team's weekly calendar.
