DAVIDSON, N.C. – After a trip to California and a win over Gardner-Webb, the Davidson men's soccer team returns to Alumni Stadium Tuesday night to take on Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. Youths wearing their soccer jerseys will receive free admission to the game as a part of U.S. Youth Soccer Month.

“After three straight games on the road, we are very excited to play again at Alumni Stadium,” said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. “Virginia Tech is part of the ACC, which is an extremely talented, powerful soccer conference. This year's Hokies are young, athletic, and improving quickly. They have already played a lot of great teams, so I know they are ready.

“We will definitely have to be at our best for all 90 minutes.”

Fans unable to attend can follow the action via live video and live stats.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson is 3-1-2 after going 1-1-1 on the road, tying No. 13 UC Santa Barbara, falling to No. 17 UCLA and earning an overtime win over Gardner-Webb. Davidson is now 2-2-1 against the last five Top-25 teams it has faced, and its two draws are the most in the same season since 2003. While half of Davidson's matches have gone to overtime, the 'Cats remain undefeated in the extra minutes with a 1-0-2 record. Senior midfielder Alex Caskey's overtime winner against Gardner-Webb was the second of his career. He scored on a penalty kick in overtime last season against College of Charleston. Caskey is now tied with junior forward Mark Millard for the team lead in scoring with three goals and an assist. The duo is tied for fourth in scoring in the conference. Sophomore goalkeeper Chip Sanders is tied for the conference lead in saves with 32 and shutouts with two.

Scouting the Hokies:
Virginia Tech enters the match with a 1-3-1 record. They are coming off a 7-2 win over Howard and a 1-1 draw with Atlantic Coast Conference rival Clemson. David Clemens leads the team in scoring with three goals and an assist, while Robert Alberti follows with three goals. The Hokies suffered a 2-0 defeat to No. 17 St. John's in their season opener. Virginia Tech has a young squad this season with 13 freshmen on the roster. Davidson is the only Southern Conference team the Hokies will play this season. Common opponents include Duke, Wake Forest and Radford.

The Series: Davidson is 1-3 all-time vs. Virginia Tech, dropping a 1-0 decision in Blacksburg, Va. last season. The Wildcats won the first meeting in 2000, 5-1.
