Wildcats Top Rhode Island, Extend Streak to Three Games

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson men's soccer team extended their winning streak to three games with a 1-0 blanking of Rhode Island Saturday night at Alumni Stadium.
The 'Cats have claimed three straight clean sheet victories with the exact score of 1-0, improving their record to 5-5-2 and 3-1-2 in Atlantic 10 action.
The defense has been the focal point for the Wildcats during their hot streak, holding their opponents to 9.3 shots per game while getting 15.3 shots against their opponents.
The two team went into the break with scoreless draw with Davidson holding the slight 4-3 shot advantage.
The lone score came from a Patrick Ward 58th minute penalty kick goal, his first of the season. The foul was drawn by freshman JP Ramos Mora who tackled in the box on a break away, setting the Wildcats up for the win.
The defense held strong once again with back line trio of Alonzo Clarke, Brady McGlone and Jack Brown playing the full 90 for Davidson. Ramos Mora led the team with three shots while Aiden Boudro and Tobe Ibe each had two on the night. Davidson keeper Lucas Beltran made three saves for the 'Cats.

The Wildcats remain at home, hosting Johnson and Wales next Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Alumni Stadium. The game will serve as the team's Senior Day, where we will celebrate six graduating scholar-athletes. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
