Loyola Chicago Holds Off Davidson

CHICAGO — The Davidson College men's soccer team was unable to overcome a first-half two-goal deficit, falling 2-1 to Loyola Chicago on Saturday night at Loyola Soccer Park.
Davidson suffered its first Atlantic 10 Conference loss of the season, falling to 2-1-0 in conference play and 2-3-4 overall. Loyola Chicago earned its first league victory, moving to 1-1-1 in the A-10 and 6-3-3 overall.
The Ramblers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals. Nicholas Kehayovs capitalized on an errant pass to score in the 15th minute, and Chimnosoh Okeke added a second goal less than two minutes later in the 16th minute.
Myles Culley cut the deficit in half in the 37th minute with a left-footed strike before halftime.
Davidson controlled the offensive tempo for much of the match, outshooting Loyola Chicago 11-4 in the first half and 8-5 in the second. The Ramblers' only two shots on goal were their two first-half scores. Goalkeeper Max Ionita made seven saves for Loyola Chicago, while Davidson's Lucas Beltran did not record a save.
Culley led the Wildcats with five shots, including two on target, but Davidson could not capitalize on its second-half pressure to find an equalizer.
