ARLINGTON, Va. — Davidson hit four home runs and used a four-run eighth inning to push past George Washington 8-5 and earn a series sweep at Tucker Field Sunday afternoon.

It's the Wildcats' second Atlantic 10 Conference sweep of the season (also St. Bonaventure) and their fifth consecutive league series victory.

Davidson (23-18) exits the weekend 14-7 in A-10 play and alone in second in the standings.

Trailing 5-4 in the eighth, Davidson took the lead on a two-run Gavin Thomas home run to left-center. Jamie Daly's two-run double three batters later made it 8-5.

Theo Loughlin got the Wildcats started with a solo blast to right in the third inning, his first career round-tripper. In the fourth, Forrest Lietz and Aidan Rice added two-run and solo shots, respectively. Daly finished with three hits.

Starter Ed Hall threw three innings, allowing six hits and four earned runs and striking out two.

Will Marenghi took the reins and navigated the next 3.2 innings, surrendering three hits and one unearned run and striking out two.

Parker Jones allowed just one hit in the final 2.1 innings while earning his first win of the year.

George Washington (17-25) fell to 9-12 in the league.
