Wildcats' Season Ends with A-10 Tourney Loss to Mason

TYSONS, Va. — Fourth-seeded George Mason scored in five consecutive innings and pulled away from No. 6 Davidson 9-1 in an elimination game Thursday morning in the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Capital One Park.
The loss marked the end of the line for the Wildcats, who closed the 2026 season 25-28, having made their second straight A-10 postseason and ninth overall.
Davidson's lone run Thursday came in the bottom of the third inning and tied the game at 1-1. Matthew Vannoy was hit by a pitch, advanced on a Jamie Daly single and scored on a Forrest Lietz single.
But the Patriots (29-25) steadily built their lead, scoring two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and seventh, three in the eighth and one more in the ninth. They advanced to play a yet-to-be-determined opponent later Thursday.
Daly led the Wildcats with two hits, while Fredy Diaz's double in the seventh was the Wildcats' lone extra-base hit.
Pitcher Wilson Perkins, a three-year captain and Friday starter, threw five-plus innings, allowed seven hits and four earned runs and struck out one in his final start.
