Wildcats Visit Tennessee Tech This Weekend

After opening with four straight weekend home series, the Davidson baseball team is on the road this weekend when it visits Tennessee Tech.
 
The teams will play a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, then complete the series on Sunday.
 
LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Davidson enters the weekend 6-10 after winning 7-1 at N.C. A&T on Tuesday night.
• The Wildcats are seeking their second weekend series victory of the season (Villanova).
• On Tuesday night, Noah Jouras led the way with three RBIs, and four Davidson pitchers limited the Aggies to five hits.
• Corner infielder Eli Putnam leads the Wildcats at the plate in average (.379), OPS (1.165), doubles (5) and slugging percentage (.672) and is one of three Wildcats with four home runs. He's also driven in 20.
• Catcher Jacob Friend is now hitting .354, to go with two home runs and a 1.093 OPS, and he leads the team with 19 walks and a .551 on-base percentage.
• Outfielder Jake Wilhoit (.300 avg, 1.054 OPS) and infielder Michael O'Shaughnessy (.276 avg, .928 OPS) have also hit four home runs. O'Shaughnessy has driven in a team-best 21 runs.
• On the mound, lefty reliever Matt Weber has been the standard-setter. In four appearances and 13.2 innings, he has an 0.66 ERA, an 0.88 WHIP and 15 strikeouts.
• Assistant coach Todd Miller, in his second season at Davidson, was previously on the staff at Tennessee Tech.
 
SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH
• The Golden Eagles, of the Ohio Valley Conference, are 10-7.
• Most recently, they lost two games at USC Upstate on Tuesday.
• Prior to that, TTU had won four straight, including a win over Alabama A&M and three against Queens.
• Catcher Hayden Gilliland leads TTU with a .387 average, has hit three home runs and driven in 22.
• Infielder Trey Baunsgard (.373) and outfielder Nicho Jordan (.304) are also hitting over the .300 mark.
• Infielder Preston Steele (.288) leads the way with seven home runs and 24 RBIs.
• Right-hander Peyton Calibri has set the tone on the mound. He has a 2.59 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Davidson leads the all-time series 3-1.
• That includes a three-game sweep last year at Wilson Field, when the Wildcats won 9-5, 12-10 and 6-5 ball games.
