WILDCAT SCRATCHES
- Davidson will conclude its three-game conference road swing Tuesday evening with a 7 p.m. tip at La Salle.
- The Wildcats enter 9-10 overall and 2-5 in league play following a 68-61 setback at Dayton a week ago.
- This marks the first time since joining the Atlantic 10, the Wildcats have played three straight league games away from home.
- The last time Davidson played three straight conference road games was during the 2011-12 campaign in the SoCon.
- Six of the 'Cats' seven A-10 contests have come against teams predicted to finish in the top-half of the standings.
- Eight of Davidson's contests this season have been decided by five or fewer points. The Wildcats won the first three, but have dropped five straight decided by that margin.
- Since joining the A-10 in 2014-15, Davidson has won two regular season titles (2015, 2022), a tournament title (2018), made three NCAA Tournaments (2015, 2018, 2022) and totaled 93 league wins (11.3 per year).
- The Wildcats have recorded an average finish of 4.0 in the 15-team conference and made the A-10 semifinals each year.
- Preseason all-conference selection Foster Loyer continues to lead the 'Cats in scoring, averaging 15.6 points per game.
- The red-shirt senior enters just nine points shy of 1,000 for his career. He would become the 54th player in school history and fourth transfer to hit the milestone.
- Loyer ranks among league leaders in scoring (15.6/9th), 3-pointers made (42/8th), free-throw percentage (.897/1st), 3-pointers per game (2.2/8th), assists per game (4.5/4th) and steals per game (1.7/6th).
- Loyer and teammate David Skogman (.882) rank 1-2 in the league in free-throw percentage.
- Redshirt junior Sam Mennenga is contributing 15.5 points per outing, while leading the team in rebounding (7.5 rpg).
- Mennenga ranks among A-10 leaders in both scoring (10th) and rebounding (6th) categories.
- Sophomore Desmond Watson has also climbed into double figures for the 'Cats at 10.2 points.
- Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Watson is averaging 13.3 over his last five games, including a pair of 19-point performances.
- Meeting for the second time in 18 days, Dayton shot 63.6 percent in the second half to get by Davidson, 68-61, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Jan. 17 inside UD Arena.
- Desmond Watson matched his career-high, scoring 19 points for the Wildcats, while Sam Mennenga contributed his fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
- Despite the setback, Davidson controlled the glass 34-29, which led to 23 second-chance points, after being outrebounded 43-24 in the previous meeting.
- Dayton opened the second half on a 15-2 run capped by seven straight field goals to go in front for good.
- Facing its largest deficit of night at 50-38, Davidson used a 14-6 run to make it 56-52 with 4:51 to play. But the Flyers responded with five answered to push the margin back to nine and all but put the game out of reach.
- Mustapha Amzil finished with 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting and a 7-of-8 effort from the line for Dayton, which shot 54.3 percent for the game and had 10 blocks.
- Watson led all scorers in the first 20 minutes with 13 points, highlighted by a 3-pointer on the Wildcats' last possession of the period to give them a 32-29 lead at intermission.
- Davidson returns home to Belk Arena Friday night for a nationally-televised (ESPN2) contest against Saint Louis at 7 p.m.
