Nolan Homers Twice as 'Cats Complete Sweep of Spiders

DAVIDSON — A day after drawing a walk-off walk, Parker Nolan used his home run swing to propel Davidson past Richmond 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field.
Nolan hit two home runs as the Wildcats, now 22-5, completed the three-game series sweep of the Spiders on the first weekend of Atlantic 10 Conference play.
It's the Wildcats' fourth series sweep of the season, following Bryant, Norfolk State and Lafayette and the sixth series win (also Lehigh and UNC Greensboro).
Nolan said Sunday's win was just a continuation of what has been working for the Wildcats this season.
"We've been pitching really well, playing defense and getting the offense to be productive by letting guys put pressure on the other team," he said.
Sunday, Nolan hit a two-run shot to left-center to break a 1-1 tie in the third inning, scoring Trevor Candelaria. He made it 4-1 with a solo shot to left in the sixth, his sixth homer of the year.
As it had all series, though, Richmond made it interesting late, scoring two runs in the eighth and threatening to add more. But Bennett Flynn entered with one on and two outs and earned an inning-ending strikeout. Two Spiders reached with two outs in the ninth before Flynn again earned a strikeout, this time ending it and wrapping up his third save.
Lefty starter Ryan Feczko improved to 5-1 by throwing five innings, allowing one earned run and three hits. He struck out three and walked three before handing the ball to Alex Fenton (2.2 IP, 2 ER, 3 hits, 4 Ks).

The Wildcats will travel to Durham to face Duke Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
