WILDCAT SCRATCHES

Davidson comes in 6-2 overall following a heartbreaking overtime setback at the buzzer to cross-county rival Charlotte Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Foster Loyer, the nation's fourth-leading scorer at 22.6 points per game, paced the Wildcats with 22 points, while fellow captain Sam Mennenga added 21.
Loyer also ranks among national leaders in free throws made (1st / 6.5) and attempted (12th / 7.4) per game.
Loyer and Mennenga have combined for seven 20-point outings this season.
Mennenga is also averaging double figures for the 'Cats this year at 16.3 points per game, while leading the club in rebounding (7.0) and field-goal percentage (.583).
On Monday, freshman Reed Bailey was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his 20-point effort against San Francisco.
Saturday's meeting will be just the third all-time between the Wildcats and Blue Hens.
Davidson is 14-4 in road games dating back to the 2020-21 season.

Jackson Threadgill's buzzer-beater capped a Charlotte comeback and delivered a 68-66 overtime 49er victory in Tuesday night's Battle for the Hornets' Nest Trophy rivalry game in Belk Arena.
Charlotte trailed 66-65 when Threadgill hit a 3-pointer from the left wing as time expired.
Davidson led by as many as 11, 52-41, with 10:49 to play following two Foster Loyer free throws. But Charlotte scored 15 of the game's next 19 points to pull even, setting up a tight finish.
The Wildcats had the last possession of regulation, but Grant Huffman's half-court shot missed the mark as time expired.
An 18-foot Loyer jumper gave the Wildcats a 66-65 lead with 23 seconds left in overtime, but after Lu'Cye Patterson missed two free throws, the 49ers secured two offensive rebounds to get shots to win it.
Loyer and Sam Mennenga combined for 43 points to lead Davidson, with Loyer scoring a game-high 22 to go with eight assists and Mennenga adding 21 points and seven boards. Mennenga scored the first nine points and 11 of a 14-0 run early in the second half, as Davidson opened its double-digit lead.
Desmond Watson also scored in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Aly Khalifa and Igor Milicic Jr. scored 19 and 18, respectively, to lead Charlotte.

Davidson returns to John M. Belk Arena Wednesday evening to face former Southern Conference foe Western Carolina at 7 p.m.
