Wildcats Settle For Series Split With Patriots

Davidson's Henry Koehler continued his productive weekend by driving in three runs, but George Mason pulled away from the Wildcats late on the Wilson Field diamond Sunday to earn an Atlantic 10 series split.
 
The 10-4 Mason win drops the Wildcats to 24-22 overall and 8-12 in league play.
 
After driving in four runs in Saturday's doubleheader sweep, Koehler got the Wildcats on the board Sunday with a two-RBI single in the second inning, which scored Parker Nolan and Jake Wilhoit.
 
In the fourth, Koehler plated Wilhoit on a single to short to make it 3-1.
 
But the Patriots took a 4-3 lead on Kyle Hayes' RBI-single in the seventh, then scored six runs on five hits in the ninth to extend their lead.
 
Jacob Hinderleider's RBI-single to right-center scored Ruben Fontes in the ninth to finalize the scoring.
 
The Wildcats used seven pitchers, with starter Danny Rosenfield, Bennett Flynn and Pete Bloomberg all throwing 2.1 innings.
 
Up Next
The final scheduled home game of the season is set for Tuesday when non-conference foe Duke visits for a 4 p.m. contest.
