NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – In addition to Davidson's Lucas Hauth earning second-team and all-academic recognition, Adam Luckhurst and Trey Gardiner were selected to the Atlantic 10's all-rookie team, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
"Very happy to see Lucas, Adam and Trey representing their teammates on the all-conference teams," said head coach Mike Babst. "I'm excited that all three will be back on the field for us in the fall."
A native of Fleming Island, Fla., Hauth finished his junior campaign ranked among conference leaders in goals scored (T-2nd | 5), game-winning goals (T-1st | 3) and total points (T-5th | 10).
"Lucas made great progress as a goal scorer this year with five goals in just eight games," said Babst.
Along with becoming just the seventh Wildcat to earn all-conference honors since Davidson joined the A-10 in 2014, Hauth was one of just 11 players selected to the league's all-academic squad for his work in the classroom.
Instrumental in Davidson's significant improvements, first-year players Adam Luckhurst and Trey Gardiner started every game for the 'Cats this season. Luckhurst finished third on the team in goals scored (3) and second in both assists (2) and total points (8), while Gardiner added an assist and helped the backline to a pair of shutouts.
"Adam was relentless up top and made a lot of big plays for the team. Trey played beyond his years, and grew throughout the season into a top center back," said Babst.
Davidson, which concluded the season unbeaten in five of its last seven contests, finished the 2021 spring campaign 3-4-2 overall and 2-2-2 in Atlantic 10 play.
