Wildcats Open Series With North Alabama Thursday

Having won four straight and eight of its last nine, the Davidson baseball team is primed to host North Alabama in a three-game series at Wilson Field beginning Thursday night.

The Wildcats, now 13-9, are coming off a 7-6 win over Wofford Tuesday evening at the new Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis. Davidson has won 15 straight at home, which ranks third in the country behind only Wright State (22) and Navy (16).

"We're looking forward to being at home," said Wildcats coach Rucker Taylor. "It's been a busy stretch of games, but we've been able to have a lot of guys contribute. UNA is coming in playing well, and it should be another good weekend of baseball."

Last time out
Ryan Wilson and John Hosmer hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning Tuesday to help the Wildcats build a 7-1 lead against Wofford.

And when the Terriers rallied late to cut the deficit to one run, Davidson's Nolan DeVos came on to pitch a 1-2-3 ninth inning and record his fourth save of the season.

Hosmer's blast was his team-best fifth of the year and was the first ever to leave the minor league park. Hosmer also leads the Wildcats with 21 RBIs and a 1.041 OPS and is second with a .318 average.

UNA (4-17) is coming off a series sweep of Lipscomb. The Wildcats swept the Lions in three games in 2019.
