DAVIDSON, N.C. --
Davidson baseball will continue their road swing this weekend, heading to Philadelphia for a three-game stint with Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's beginning Friday. The Hawks were picked to finish seventh in the A-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll after failing to make the tournament a year ago, but boasted the third seed in the 2016 championship.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Saint Joseph's is coming off a two-game split with Villanova, taking Tuesday's game 6-4 before falling 3-2 Wednesday. The Hawks enter the weekend one-game below .500  at 13-14 overall and 3-4 in A-10 play. St. Joe's is paced by senior hurler Tim Brennan, who has surrendered just four walks over 46 innings this season, while striking out 45. Offensively, Charlie Concannon ranks third in the A-10 with a .363 average, boasting a team-high 17 RBI and .500 slugging. The Hawks are hitting .243 as a team.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES
The 'Cats and Hawks have only faced each other seven times, with Davidson leading the series 6-2. Davidson took two-of-three last year from SJU.  Then-sophomore Max Bazin tallied three hits in the series, as then-juniors Alec Acosta and Cam Johnson scored a combined five times in the 10-7 opening game victory. The Wildcats faced the Hawks twice in the 2016 A-10 Championship, upsetting them first in the opening round and then again in the semifinals to become the first No. 6 seed to ever advance to the A-10 Title game.

'CATS, HAWKS, AND OPPONENTS... OH MY
Davidson and Saint Joseph's have faced just two common opponents so far this season. The Hawks split a two-game set with Georgetown and fell to Lafayette 9-1. The 'Cats swept the Hoyas and took two-of-three from the Leopards. SJU has already faced future Wildcat opponents Saint Louis, and will face Rhode Island, Fordham, and George Mason.

LAST TIME OUT
Before suffering from a 5-0 shutout to No. 14 Duke Tuesday, the 'Cats took two-of-three from visiting George Mason in a critical A-10 series. The team rattled the league's top pitcher Zach Mort as he surrendered his first extra-base hit, home run, and run in league play by way of junior Eric Jones launching his seventh round tripper Friday. Jones scored three of the 'Cats four runs Friday. Sunday, after losing a three-run lead in the top of the eighth, Davidson responded with a four-run frame, defeating the Patriots 9-5 to move to 6-3 in conference action.
