DURHAM, N.C. – Davidson baseball suffered its third shutout of the season Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, falling to No. 14 Duke, 5-0.
The Wildcats was held to just four hits, as juniors Justin Lebek and Eric Jones and sophomores Brett Centracchio and Matt Frey all singled. The hit from Frey was his second pinch-hit connection in as many at bats. Senior Andrew Born reached base twice via a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
Starter Jaret LaCagnina was solid through five frames, surrendering the first run on a wild pitch before cruising through the next four innings, retiring 11 straight batters at one point.
The Blue Devils clung to a 1-0 lead until the sixth, scoring four times on four hits and a walk to take a 5-0 advantage.
The 'Cats continue their road trip this weekend, heading to Philadelphia to face A-10 foe Saint Joseph's for a three-game stint beginning Friday.
