Baseball Hosts Fairfield as Homestand Continues

Coming off a midweek win over UNC Greensboro, the Davidson baseball team will continue its season-opening seven-game homestand when it hosts Fairfield in a three-game set.
The series commences at 5 p.m. Friday at Wilson Field, with early-afternoon games to follow Saturday and Sunday.
It's the first matchup with Fairfield since 2001, and the all-time series is even 3-3.
LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Davidson is 2-2 after earning one win in last weekend's series with Bryant and topping UNCG 7-4 on Tuesday.
• So far, outfielder Forrest Lietz and infielder Matt Manjooran have been leading the way at the plate.
• Lietz is hitting .545 (6-for-11) with a 1.433 OPS, a home run and eight RBIs, including six in one game of the Bryant series.
• Manjooran is hitting .500 (7-for-14) with a 1.302 OPS, three doubles and five RBIs. A freshman, he was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
• Lietz and Gavin Thomas have each homered.
• On the mound, right-hander Ed Hall and lefty Carson Taggart have set the tone.

• The Stags had an historic season in 2025, tying a program record with 39 wins, winning the MAAC title and advancing to the NCAA Regionals for the third time.
• Five starting position players return from that team, led by outfielder Matt Bucciero, who was named the MAAC Championship Most Outstanding Player and this season's MAAC Preseason Player of the Year.
• Bucciero finished second in the MAAC last year with 15 home runs and 67 RBIs.
• Right-handed pitcher Ben Alekson returns to lead the weekend rotation after earning First Team All-MAAC honors last year. He led the MAAC with a 1.12 WHIP and was second with a 3.34 ERA and 84 strikeouts.
• So far this year, Fairfield is led by infielder Connor Scanlan (.333 average) and Bucciero (1.017 OPS).
• The Stags visited No. 6 Coastal Carolina last weekend and lost three competitive games (5-3, 5-1, 5-0).
