INSIDE THE MATCHUP
This is the 64th meeting between Davidson and Richmond. The Wildcats won all three matchups last season, which included a 69-65 victory in the A-10 Tournament. Before the 2025-26 campaing, the Spiders won four in a row. As of January 29, Davidson ranks fifth in the A-10 in scoring defense (69.3 PPG) and Richmond ranks 10th (73.2 PPG). Offensively, the Wildcats are 11th in scoring (71.5 PPG) and the Spiders are fifth in the A-10 in that department (79.2 PPG).
The Spiders and Wildcats sit inside the top 20 nationally in bench points per game. Richmond ranks seventh and Davidson ranks 18th. The other two A-10 schools inside the top 20 in bench points are VCU (6th) and Saint Louis (10th).
LAST GAME
The Wildcats suffered a 60-52 setback on the road on Wednesday against George Mason. This snapped a three-game win streak on the road for the 'Cats. Davidson trailed 24-13 with 6:33 left in the first half and went on a 21-4 run to close out the frame. The 'Cats led 34-28 at intermission and then shot only 28 percent from the floor in the second half. Roberts Blums led the Wildcats with 16 points and Josh Scovens grabbed a season-high nine rebounds. Scovens was just one rebound shy from his fifth career double double. RJ Greer played in his first career A-10 game and scored six points in nine minutes.
THE SC(oven)S IS HOT
Josh Scovens reached the 1,000-point mark for his college career last week against Fordham on January 21. In two seasons at Army, the Greensboro native scored 824 points. He is averaging 10.2 points per game this season. Scovens has scored in double figures in each of the previous five contests while shooting 63.0 percent from the floor. 47 of his 67 points during this span have come in the second half. During conference play this season, the junior ranks 12th in field goal percentage (54.1) in the A-10.
BLOCK PARTY!
Sean Logan is averaging 2.5 blocks per game (32 total) in just 13 games this season. The senior has blocked 15 shots in his last five games played. Logan has appeared in seven of Davidson's eight conference games and owns the second-highest blocks per game average in the A-10 during that span (2.7). Logan has 119 career blocks, which is currently the fourth most in Davidson program history. The 2022 A-10 Player of the Year, Luka Brajkovic, is third on the list with 120. Jamie Hall ('82) is second with 159. Jake Cohen ('13) is at the top of that list with 197.
BALANCE
Davidson has nine scholar-athletes who average at least 15 minutes per game this season. Josh Scovens leads the team with 25.1 minutes per game. The last time Davidson didn't have anyone average 30 or more minutes per game in a season was the 2001-02 squad.
