Blums-led Wildcats Roll Past Richmond 79-54

RICHMOND, Va. — Roberts Blums hit six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 23 points as Davidson blew past Richmond 79-54 Saturday afternoon at the Robins Center.
With their most convincing Atlantic 10 Conference win this season, the Wildcats improved to 13-8 overall and completed the first half of the A-10 schedule 5-4. Richmond (13-10) dropped its fifth straight game and fell to 3-7 in the A-10.
Blums finished 6-of-8 from beyond the arc and 8-of-10 from the field, surpassing his previous career-best (21 at George Washington on Jan. 14). He scored 11 straight points — including three consecutive 3-pointers — during a 13-0 first-half run, which helped the Wildcats turn a four-point game into a 30-13 lead and a 34-15 advantage at the intermission. During that decisive stretch, Richmond went scoreless for more than seven minutes.
A Sam Brown trey early in the second half pushed the lead to 22, and from there, the Wildcats led by at least 20 the rest of the way. The lead reached 29 points twice, first on a Blums 3-pointer, which made it 65-36 with 9:04 to play.
Parker Friedrichsen and Josh Scovens also scored in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Davidson shot 53 percent from the field, hit 52 percent from 3-point range and finished with a 36-23 rebounding advantage.
Will Johnston (11 points) and Aiden Argabright (10) led the Spiders.
