FAIRFAX, Va. – Kory Mincy scored a game-high 19 points and George Mason used a strong second half to get by Davidson, 60-52, Wednesday evening inside EagleBank Arena
The Wildcats, who entered undefeated on the road in league play, fall to 12-8 overall and 4-4 in the A-10, while Mason improves to 19-2 and 7-1.
In addition to holding the 'Cats scoreless for more than seven minutes late in the contest, George Mason used a 10-2 spurt to break a 43-43 deadlock and go in front for good.
Roberts Blums (16) and Josh Scovens (10) were the lone players in double figures for the Wildcats, who made just seven field goals in the second half, shooting 28 percent in the period.
Both teams struggled offensively early before exchanging significant scoring runs.
George Mason, which didn't hit its first field goal until the 16:40 mark, used a 24-8 scoring stretch to build a 24-13 lead. The Wildcats countered with a 21-4 streak – highlighted by a pair of RJ Greer triples – to end the opening 20 minutes with a 34-28 lead.
The Patriots got to the free-throw line 22 times to just six for Davidson.
After Mason scored 10 straight to begin the second half and retake the lead, the 'Cats would claw their way back tying the game at 43-all on a Blums' 3-pointer.
