Wildcats Visit George Mason to Close Regular Season

Coming off a weekend sweep of St. Bonaventure, the Davidson baseball team will conclude its regular season schedule with three games at George Mason this weekend.

The Atlantic 10 Conference series will begin Thursday at 3 p.m., and with inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday, the teams will play a Friday doubleheader beginning at 12:02 p.m.Â

LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Davidson enters the weekend 22-27 overall and 8-13 in the Atlantic 10 after last weekend's home sweep of St. Bonaventure.
• The Wildcats are currently 10th in the league standings.
• The sweep of the Bonnies was the Wildcats' first in league play and their third A-10 series win (Saint Joseph's, Richmond). Davidson also swept non-conference foe Siena and won a non-conference series against Villanova.
• The 20-win season is the Wildcats' 10th consecutive, excluding the pandemic-abbreviated 2020 campaign.

• Wildcats first baseman Eli Putnam continues to set the offensive standard in the A-10.
• He's the league leader in home runs (16), runs (56), RBIs (57), total bases (130) and slugging percentage (.695).
• Putnam's home run total this season ranks fifth on the program's all-time single-season list.
• He enters the weekend five RBIs shy of Trevor Candelaria's single-season Davidson record, set at 62 in 2022.
• Putnam also ranks third in the A-10 with a 1.158 OPS and 67 hits, fourth with 15 doubles and fifth with a .385 average. Â
• Catcher/DH Jacob Friend ranks second in the A-10 with 42 walks. He is also fifth in on-base percentage (.473), seventh in OPS (1.025) and 10th with 10 home runs.
• Catcher/DH Noah Jouras is hitting .322 and is second in the A-10 with four triples.
• Third baseman Joe Haney homered in all three games of the St. Bonaventure series.
• Outfielder Cider Canon is hitting .315 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs since joining the lineup.
