Calero's Home Run Lifts 'Cats Past Patriots

It's the fourth straight win for the Wildcats, who improved to 23-27 overall and 9-13 in the Atlantic 10. George Mason (23-27) fell to 9-13 in league play.
Calero's shot to left came a half-inning after Patriot James Quinn-Irons tied the game with a two-out, two-run blast in the ninth and forced an extra inning.
Calero's homer was the second of the day for Davidson, following Jake Wilhoit's two-run shot that gave the Wildcats a second-inning lead.
Eli Putnam had a go-ahead RBI-single in the third to make it 3-2, and Cider Canon's bases-clearing triple off the wall in the seventh put the Wildcats back in front 6-5. Tyler Douglas then drove in Canon to give the Wildcats a two-run lead.
On the mound, starter Wilson Perkins threw seven innings (7 IP, 8 hits, 5 ER, 3 Ks) before handing the ball to Jason Ban (2-1). Matt Weber recorded the final three outs for his third save.
