Baseball Hosts Siena This Weekend

Davidson baseball's final non-conference series of the regular season is this weekend when the Wildcats host Siena at Wilson Field.

The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. Sunday contest.
 
LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats are 8-12 after Tuesday's 9-3 win over Charlotte in Kannapolis.
• The win was No. 150 for head coach Rucker Taylor, whose teams are 150-98 (.605) in five-plus seasons.
• In that game, catcher Noah Jouras had three hits, including two triples, and drove in three runs to lead the way, and the Wildcats pulled away with a five-run sixth inning.
• Corner infielder Eli Putnam leads the Wildcats in average (.373), slugging percentage (.667), OPS (1.145), hits (28) and doubles (7) and is tied for the team lead with five home runs. Putnam is the only Wildcat with 10 multi-hit games so far. He's also driven in 22 runs, second-most on the team.
• Catcher Jacob Friend is hitting .354 with a 1.093 OPS. He's the team leader with 19 walks, a .551 on-base percentage and three stolen bases.
• Infielder Michael O'Shaughnessy has a team-high 24 RBIs and has also hit a team-best five home runs. He's hitting .307 with a .958 OPS.
• On the mound, Wilson Perkins has been pacing the starters with a 4.78 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.
• Reliever Matt Weber has a team-low 2.16 ERA in 16.2 innings.
 
SCOUTING SIENA
• The Saints, of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, are 1-16.
• Siena won its first game on Wednesday, earning a 17-7 victory over Army in seven innings.
• Outfielder Austin Rachiele hit two home runs and drove in six to lead the way.
• Rachiele leads the Saints in average (.371), OPS (1.210), home runs (5) and RBIs (17).
• Randall Hien (.318) and Tyler Figueroa (.313) also hit over the .300 mark.
 
SERIES NOTES
• It's the Wildcats' fifth home series of the season.
• Davidson leads the all-time matchup 4-1.
• That includes a three-game sweep in 2020.
• Davidson is seeking its second series victory (Villanova).
