Wildcats Sweep Doubleheader With Siena

DAVIDSON — The Davidson baseball team swept a doubleheader with Siena Saturday at Wilson Field and secured at least their second series win of the season as well.
The Wildcats improved to 10-12 with the 5-2 and 5-4 victories, both in seven innings, and won three straight games for the second time this season.
Game 1
Davidson built a five-run lead through five innings, then thwarted some late Siena threats to win the day's first game 5-2.
Jed Howard's RBI-double and Noah Jouras' RBI-single got the Wildcats a 2-0 lead in the third, and they added runs on sacrifice flies by Aidan Rice and Eli Putnam in the fourth. Rice singled in a run in the fifth to make it 5-0.
Meanwhile, right-handed starter Wilson Perkins kept the Saints at bay. He tossed five innings, allowed three hits and struck out five while improving to 3-2. in one stretch, he retired 10 of 11 batters.
Jason Ban earned his second save of the year, throwing the final 1.2 innings and striking out three. He entered a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the sixth and ended the threat with two strikeouts.
Game 2
Hunter Anderson's RBI-sacrifice bunt plated the winning run in the sixth inning of the 5-4 win.
Anderson's well-placed bunt up the first-base line allowed Cider Canon to score from third. Canon led off the sixth with a walk, then advanced to third on a throwing error.
Pitcher Jake Dunagan, who entered with two on and two outs in the sixth inning, then pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to end it and earn his first victory.
Canon drove in the game's first run with an RBI-single in the first, and the Wildcats moved ahead 4-1 with a three-run fourth that included RBI-singles from Putnam and Jouras and a Jake Wilhoit sacrifice fly.
But Siena pulled even with a Kobe Stenson home run in the sixth.
Starter Cooper Cavanaugh threw four innings, allowed three hits and one earned run and struck out four.
