Davidson fell to 29-20 overall and 15-6 in Atlantic 10 play, while Richmond (24-26) improved to 12-9 in the league.
Friend's solo home run to right in the fifth gave Davidson a 7-1 lead, and his two-run home run in the ninth — his eighth blast in the last seven games — put the Wildcats ahead 10-8. He also had a two-run single in the third to finish the day with three hits and five RBIs.
But the Spiders rallied multiple times. They scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie it, and after Nick Calero homered in the sixth, the Spiders countered with a homer of their own to make it 8-8. In the bottom of the ninth, Richmond scored three runs to win it, including two on Mikey Kluska's double.
Jake Wilhoit's two-run home run in the second started the scoring Thursday, and Tyler Douglas hit a two-RBI double in the third to make it 6-0.
