Wildcats Enter Saturday Finale With Chance at Top Seed

RICHMOND, Va. — After a 7-3 loss to Richmond Friday afternoon, the Davidson baseball team will enter Saturday's final regular season game with a lot on the line.
The Wildcats, now 29-21 overall and 15-7 in the Atlantic 10, can still earn the top seed in next week's league tournament. But they need to take care of business Saturday and also get some help.
Saint Joseph's is currently first in the league at 16-7, and with a win over George Mason Saturday, would secure the league's top spot and a first-round bye in the seven-team tournament VCU will host. If the Hawks lose, however, Davidson can secure the top seed — and the coveted bye — with a win over the Spiders. It would be Davidson's second straight regular season title.
Friday afternoon, Richmond scored three runs in the second, two in the third and one more in the fourth to take control and win 7-3.
Spiders shortstop Mikey Kluska led the way with two home runs, including a three-run shot in the second and a solo blast in the fourth.
Davidson took a 1-0 lead on Ryan Wilson's RBI-single in the first, as Wilson reached base for the 50th straight game.
Henry Koehler's RBI-single in the third cut Richmond's lead to 3-2, and Jacob Hinderleider's sacrifice fly in the seventh made it 6-3 Spiders.
Ryan Feczko (6-5) threw four innings in the loss. Brycen Champey threw the next four, allowing five hits and one earned run.
