
'Cats Split Twin Bill at George Washington

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Davidson baseball team split a doubleheader at Atlantic 10 Conference foe George Washington Saturday afternoon.
With the 7-3 win and 2-1 loss, the Wildcats are 24-17 overall and 10-4 in league play.
Game 1
Davidson scored five runs on seven hits in the sixth inning, paving the way to a 7-3 victory.
Six Wildcats had multiple hits in the series opener, led by Henry Koehler, who was 4-for-5, and Ryan Wilson, who hit his league-leading 16th home run of the season in the third to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Jack Cotrone added two doubles as well.
In the sixth, Wilson drove in two with a double down the line in left, while Jake Wilhoit, Nick Calero and Koehler all plated runs with singles, making it 6-1. Koehler drove in one more run with a double in the eighth.
Ryan Feczko (5-4) was steady on the mound, tossing six innings, allowing four hits and one earned run and striking out four. AJ Pabst (1 IP) and Bennett Flynn (2 IP) kept the Colonials at bay from there.
Game 2
George Washington broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the eighth to earn a 2-1 win and a doubleheader split.
Sam Gates' RBI-single proved to be the difference for the Colonials, who improved to 7-7 in league play.
Davidson struck first when Tyler Douglas singled in Landon Reeves in the second inning, before Eddie Micheletti's solo home run evened the score in the fourth. In the eighth, Davidson limited the damage when right fielder Koehler fired home to Jacob Friend to save a run.
Wilhoit's eighth-inning double was Davidson's only extra base hit, and Wilson was the only Wildcat with two hits. With a single in the first, Wilson extended his reached-base streak to 41 games and his hit streak to 17.
Starter Jacob Peaden was solid on the bump. He threw 5.2 innings and allowed three hits and one earned run, while striking out three. Isaac Fix (2-1) took over in the sixth and threw 2.1 innings, allowing four hits and one earned run.
