DAVIDSON — Foster Loyer and Sam Mennenga combined for 51 points and 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range to lead Davidson past St. Bonaventure 74-61 Wednesday night in Belk Arena.

The Wildcats' second straight win pushed them to 13-14 overall and 6-9 in the Atlantic 10, while the Bonnies (13-16, 7-9) lost their fifth straight game.

Loyer and Mennenga combined for 10 points in a 12-0 first-half run that put the Wildcats ahead 29-12 and propelled them to a commanding 43-22 halftime lead. The run, which included the Bonnies going more than six minutes without a field goal, started with a Desmond Watson drive and layup and included treys from Loyer and Mennenga, a Loyer pull-up jumper and a Mennenga layup.

In the first 20 minutes, the Wildcats shot slightly better from 3-point range (7-of-13, 53.8 percent) than from the field (15-of-28, 53.6 percent).

The second half was more of a grind, as the Bonnies got within 12 points three times, first at the 62-50 with 4:26 to play. But Davidson answered the call each time, including with four straight free throws from Grant Huffman and Loyer to extend the lead to 74-58 with 1:04 left.

David Skogman came off the bench to add seven points and a team-high eight boards, while Huffman led the way with eight assists, while scoring six points and grabbing six rebounds.

Moses Flowers and Daryl Banks III led the Bonnies with 16 and 12 points, respectively.
