WILDCAT SCRATCHES
- Davidson enters 12-14 overall and 5-9 in the Atlantic 10 following a 76-75 come-from-behind victory over Saint Joseph's Saturday.
- Nine of the 'Cats' first 14 conference contests have come against teams predicted to finish in the top-half of the preseason poll, including two games (8 total) each against the Top-4 in the current standings.
- Six of Davidson's league contests have been decided by four or fewer points. The 'Cats are 1-5 in those games.
- Since joining the A-10 in 2014-15, Davidson has won two regular season titles (2015, 2022), a tournament title (2018), made three NCAA Tournaments (2015, 2018, 2022) and totaled 96 league wins (11.3 per year).
- The Wildcats have recorded an average finish of 4.0 in the 15-team conference and made the A-10 semifinals each year.
- Foster Loyer, who has scored 861 of his 1,088 career points at Davidson, ranks among league leaders in scoring (15.6/9th), 3-pointers made (53/13th), free-throw percentage (.906/1st), 3-pointers per game (2.1/13th), assists per game (4.6/4th) and steals per game (1.7/6th).
- Sam Mennenga is also scoring over 15 points per game, while leading the 'Cats in rebounding (6.7) and field-goal percentage (.512).
- In addition he ranks among A-10 leaders in scoring (11th), rebounding (9th) and field-goal percentage (11th).
- Loyer and teammate David Skogman (.869) rank 1-3 in the league in free-throw percentage.
- The Wildcats are 7-3 on the season when making at least eight 3-pointers in a contest.
- 12 of Davidson's contests this season have been decided by five or fewer points, including six in league play. The Wildcats are just 4-8 in those contests.
- Sam Mennenga's free throw with one second remaining lifted Davidson to a 76-75 come-from-behind victory over Saint Joseph's in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday inside John M. Belk Arena.
- Mennenga and Foster Loyer paced five Davidson players in double figures with 17 points each. Desmond Watson added 13, David Skogman had 12 off the bench and Grant Huffman finished with 10.
- On the game's final possession, Mennenga grabbed his only rebound of the contest following a Watson 3-point attempt, and was fouled on the put back. The redshirt junior intentionally missed his second free throw, which prevented the Hawks from having one final look.
- Trailing 56-51 midway through the second half, the Wildcats used a 16-6 run, highlighted by a Loyer triple and steal that led to a Huffman run out, to take a 62-57 advantage, their first since it was 8-7.
- Saint Joseph's erased a late four-point deficit and evened the score, 75-75, with 20 seconds to go on a Rasheer Fleming layup.
- Like the Wildcats, the Hawks placed five players in double digits, led by Cameron Brown's 17, but got zero points from their four reserves.
- After falling behind 35-25 with 2:48 left in the opening period, Davidson closed with an 11-4 spurt to trail 39-36 at the half.
- One of the Wildcats' philosophies is to get better everyday, and Davidson has seen the fruits of that labor at the end of the year.
- Since 2003-04, the Wildcats own a 114-34 record in the month of February.
- Davidson is 52-31 in March during that time.
- Davidson will travel to Pittsburgh for a 2 p.m. contest Sunday against Duquesne.
