Carico Homers Twice as 'Cats Win at Radford

Having won six of their last seven, the Wildcats improved to 25-6, hitting the 25-win mark for the eighth straight year, excluding the pandemic-shortened 2020 season (13-3).
Carico drove in a career-best six in his first multi-homer game, taking his season totals to 11 homers and 35 RBIs. His grand slam came in the second inning, giving the Wildcats the first four runs of a 7-0 lead. He added a two-run shot in the eighth to make it 10-6.
John Hosmer had three hits and also went deep Tuesday, as his second homer of the year made it 6-0 in the fourth, and his RBI-double in the ninth made it 13-6. Jacob Friend and Ryan Wilson also helped the Wildcats build their early lead, as Friend hit an RBI-single in the third and Wilson had an RBI-double in the fourth.
Jacob Hinderleider slid into home following a Henry Koehler hit in the seventh to make it 8-6, and Hinderleider and Wilson drove in runs in the eighth.
The Wildcats utilized six pitchers, beginning with Ryan Kutz, who threw a scoreless first. Will Schomberg took over from there and recorded the most outs (8).

The Wildcats return to Atlantic 10 Conference play when they visit St. Bonaventure for a three-game set that begins Friday.
