WILDCAT SCRATCHES

Davidson enters 6-1 overall following an 89-80 win over San Francisco.
Foster Loyer, the nation's fifth-leading scorer at 22.7 points per game, paced the Wildcats in their win over the Dons with a game-high 30 points.
In addition to Loyer's third 30-point effort of 2022-23, freshman Reed Bailey chipped in a season-high 20 points and sophomore Demond Watson added a career-high 14 off the bench.
Loyer also ranks among national leaders in free-throws made (10th / 7.6) and attempted (4th / 6.6) per game.
Sam Mennenga is also averaging double figures for the 'Cats this season at 15.6 points per game, while leading the club in rebounding (7.0).
The 'Cats have won 59 of their last 67 games on Bob McKillop Court and 16 of 17 dating back to last season.

BATTLE FOR THE HORNETS' NEST TROPHY

Tuesday's meeting between Davidson and Charlotte is the 49th overall and 40th Hornets' Nest Trophy Game.
Charlotte leads the series, which began in 1979, 30-18 and is 24-15 in the Hornets' Nest Trophy Game.
Davidson has won seven of the last nine meetings, including a 75-58 victory at Halton Arena last season.
The road team has only won six times since the 2004-05 season.

LAST TIME OUT | DAVIDSON 89, SAN FRANCISCO 80

Foster Loyer scored a game-high 30 points and Reed Bailey added a personal-best 20 as the Davidson Wildcats pushed to an 89-80 win over San Francisco Friday afternoon in Belk Arena.
Loyer and Bailey were key for the Wildcats down the stretch in a game that had 13 lead changes, including nine in a 3:38 span of the second half. Bailey delivered the final lead swap of the night with a long-range 3-pointer from the left wing to make it 69-67 with 4:58 to play.
The Wildcats then got separation with an 8-0 run that included Loyer assisting to Sam Mennenga for a 3-point play, Loyer hitting a deep trey and Loyer spinning to find Bailey for a dunk to make it 81-72 with 1:27 left.
Davidson shot season-bests at the foul line and from the field, finishing at 60.9 percent from the floor, including 68.2 percent (15-of-22) in the second half. At the stripe, the Wildcats shot 84.8 percent (28-of-33) and hit 19 of 21 free throws in the second half.
Loyer posted his third 30-point game of the year, after he scored 30 against Guilford on Nov. 7 and 38 at Wright State on Nov. 9. He also finished with team-highs of five rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a block, while hitting 12 of 14 foul shots. Bailey shot 7-of-11 from the floor and hit all five of his free throws.
Mennenga chipped in with 15 points, while Desmond Watson added a career-high 14 points.
Khalil Shabazz led San Francisco with 20.
