CONWAY, S.C. — Davidson's Alex Fedje-Johnson hit a lead-off home run Friday afternoon against Coastal Carolina in the Wildcats' Baseball at the Beach opener, but it was all Chanticleers from there in a 15-5 Davidson loss.
The Wildcats are now 4-4 as they get set to face UConn and Miami (Ohio) later in the weekend.
The homer is Fedje-Johnson's third of the season and was one of two the Wildcats hit Friday. Freshman first baseman Ryan Wilson went deep for the second time in a college uniform, with his two-run blast to left coming in the eighth inning.
Fedje-Johnson and Wilson were both involved in Davidson's two-run sixth inning as well. Fedje-Johnson, Henry Koehler and Wilson hit consecutive singles, with Wilson driving in Fedje-Johnson. Koehler then scored on a balk.
But Coastal took control with a five-run second inning and scored four runs in the fifth and sixth.
Wilson finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Gabe Levy took the loss, throwing four innings, surrendering seven earned runs and striking out six.
