WILDCAT SCRATCHES
• Davidson will open its 2020-21 Atlantic 10 slate Friday with a 7 p.m. contest at Rhode Island.
• Coming off a 63-52 setback to cross-county rival Charlotte, the Wildcats enter league play 3-3 overall.
• Davidson will play five of its first seven conference games against teams that were projected to finish in the Top-6 of the preseason poll.
• Friday's contest marks the beginning of Davidson's seventh Atlantic 10 season.
• The 'Cats are 69-39 in A-10 regular season play, including 10-8 last year, and 68-36 including A-10 tournament play.
• Davidson is 2-4 in A-10 openers since joining the league in 2014-15.
• Davidson's backcourt trio of Kellan Grady (18.8), Hyunjung Lee (16.8) and Carter Collins (12.0) continue to lead the way offensively, averaging a combined 47.6 points per game. (See Page 2 of Notes)
• Over his last 17 games, dating back to last season, Grady is averaging 20.0 points, while shooting 50.2 percent from the floor, including 38-of-89 (.426) from 3-point range.
• Through six games, the 'Cats are averaging just under 10 3-pointers per game and have a +4.8 margin on the glass.
• Head Coach Bob McKillop is just three wins shy of 600 for his career.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• A layup by Kellan Grady with 4:32 to play got Davidson within four points of the rival Charlotte 49ers Tuesday night, but the Wildcats did not hit another field goal in a 63-52 setback in Belk Arena.
• Davidson was held to 34 percent shooting, including 27 percent from long range, and missed its final eight shots in its second straight loss in the Battle for the Hornets' Nest.
• The Wildcats were within two points twice in the second half, including at 39-37 after Carter Collins drove baseline for a thunderous dunk. In all, Davidson was within four points on nine occasions after the intermission.
• Grady's layup, off a Collins steal, cut it to 54-50 at the 4:32 mark, but Davidson scored just two points the rest of the way on Hyunjung Lee free throws.
• Grady led the Wildcats with 23 points, including 12 in the second 20 minutes. Lee added 16 points, and both finished with seven boards.
• Charlotte led 33-27 at the break and was paced by the 18 points of Jahmir Young.
 
BALANCED BACKCOURT
• Through six games, Davidson's starting backcourt of Kellan Grady, Carter Collins and Hyunjung Lee are combining to average 47.6 points per game.
• In addition, the trio is averaging 13.8 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game, while shooting 50.2% from the floor, 41.3 % (43-104) from 3-point land and 85.0% (51-60) at the stripe.
 
UP NEXT
• Davidson will step out of conference play one final time when it hosts Vanderbilt Tuesday at 7 p.m.
