DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Bob McKillop calls flurries of 3-point shots "bolts of lightning" — his Davidson basketball team has a drill by that name — and he saw his Wildcats strike often in a 77-45 win over Georgia Southern Friday night in Belk Arena.

Davidson (3-2) connected on 17 of 33 3-point attempts to roll past their former Southern Conference rivals, led by a career-high 23 points from Carter Collins. The senior guard from Chapel Hill hit 7-of-8 shots from long range, including his first six and said the shots just came to him within the offense.

"I just happened to be the one to knock the shots down tonight," he said. "I was just getting open in rhythm, and the rim just opened up."

Collins, who scored 22 against Duquesne last year, produced his own 9-0 run with three straight 3-pointers in the first half, as Davidson turned a 13-10 lead into a 22-10 advantage by the 8:20 mark. In all, Davidson closed the first 20 minutes on a 25-8 run to lead 38-18 at the break.

By the time Collins hit his seventh trey, Davidson led 75-41 with 4:20 left in the game.

McKillop said the offense ran smoothly against an Eagles defense that switched at all five positions.

"For us to make shots like we did in rhythm was very impressive," he said.

Hyunjung Lee contributed 18 points, while hitting 4-of-6 3-point shots. Like Collins, he also scored nine straight points in the first half, with his coming as part of an 11-0 run. Kellan Grady scored 17 points, hitting three treys, and Luka Brajkovic finished with seven points, eight rebounds and five assists. The Wildcats shot 52 percent from 3-point range and 53 percent (29-of-55) from the field and hit 10-of-17 from beyond the arc in the first half. Collins connected on all four of his first-half 3-point attempts, while Lee was 3-of-4.

Davidson had 22 assists on 29 made baskets, and its lead peaked at 36 with 3:32 to play.

The Eagles (3-1) were led by Zack Bryant's 16 points.

Davidson will host rival Charlotte Tuesday in the annual Battle for the Hornets' Nest Trophy. Tip-off in Belk Arena is set for 7 p.m.
