DURHAM — Both times Davidson got the lead Saturday at Durham Athletic Park, N.C. Central took it right back, and it was the Eagles that came out on top 10-9 in a tight game that spanned three-and-a-half hours and featured four ties.
 
The loss is the fourth in a row for the Wildcats, who fall to 14-11.
 
Davidson had plenty of offense Saturday, and the Wildcats had it immediately, as they built a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Eric Jones hit the first of his career-best three doubles to drive in Alex Mardiney, and Justin Lebek followed with a two-run home run. Lebek's shot to left center was his fourth of the season and second in the last three games.
 
The Eagles, though, answered with four runs in the bottom half to set the tone for a back-and-forth contest.
 
The Wildcats again moved in front 8-7 after a four-run fifth that included a two-RBI triple by Brett Centracchio and a Max Bazin RBI-double off the left field wall. But again, the Eagles (13-17) answered, this time with two runs in the bottom half, including a solo home run by Vinny Bailey.
 
Ruben Fontes' RBI-single in the sixth tied the game at 9-9, and each team had a player thrown out at home in the seventh inning.
 
The Eagles' go-ahead run came in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Timmy Fischvogt.
 
Up Next
The Wildcats and Eagles meet again Sunday, when Davidson hosts a 2 p.m. game at Wilson Field.
