WIldcats Post Four Wins at Bucknell Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Four first-place finishes, including two each by the Davidson men and women, marked the second day of competition at the Bucknell Invitational for the Wildcat swimming and diving teams.
Saturday's action at Kinney Natatorium concluded with the Davidson men holding a slight lead over Rider for first place in the overall team standings (807.5-806), while the Davidson women are in third place.
"The 'Cats are giving each other a lot to be excited about, and their energy is great," said coach John Young.
Davidson swept the 800 freestyle relays, as Ian Hentenaar, Jacob Jung, Brian Hynes and Walter Dauksher won the men's race in 6:43.58. Davidson's Abby Francis, Sarah Helen Shepherd, Siena Senn and Shelby Stanley touched the wall in 7:23.38 to pace the women.
Individually, Stanley, who set the school record in a victorious 200 individual medley swim on Friday, added a win in the 400 IM. The freshman swam out front in 4:18.68 and also placed sixth in the 100 butterfly (55.70).
Dauksher, a senior, earned the top seed in the 200 free during morning prelims and delivered in the night session with a first-place swim of 1:39.17.
The Davidson men earned key points in the 400 IM, where Crossan Cooper took third (4:02.42), and Mitchell Stanek took ninth (4:02.79). Alex Strasser was fourth in the 100 butterfly (49.36), while Brian Hynes took eighth (50.47), and Hynes (50.88) and Owen Corkery (50.89) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 backstroke.
Davidson was fifth in the 200 medley relay, with Hynes, Griffen Younger, Strasser and Kilian Quinn swimming it in 1:32.41.
The Davidson women were also fifth in the 200 medley relay, as Hope Carpenter, Shepherd, Selena Nishihata and Olivia Stanley posted a time of 1:45.58.
Senn took third in the 200 free (1:50.23), while Julia Goodhead placed third in the 100 back (55.74), which also featured an eighth-place swim by Alexis LeMone (57.52). Shepherd took fourth in the 100 breast (1:04.60), as two other Wildcats, Helen Duffy and Virginia Gilliland, joined her in the top nine.
Francis added a sixth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:26.70).

Saturday also saw multiple Wildcats climb the program record book, or simply improve their times.
