ATLANTA — Davidson swimmer Dylan Felt won his preliminary heat and improved upon his own school record while competing in the 200 freestyle at the NCAA Championships Thursday morning at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Swimming in Lane 6 in Heat 2, Felt touched the wall first in 1:32.94, besting his previous Davidson mark of 1:32.96.
"To swim your best among the best — that's the pinnacle," said Davidson coach John Young.
Seeded 44th entering the meet, Felt finished 31st.
A senior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Felt is making his first NCAA appearance, and he's the first Wildcat to compete in the event since Elise Lankiewicz in 2017.
He will compete in the 500 free during Friday's prelims, which begin at 10 a.m.
