DAVIDSON, N.C. --
Davidson baseball wraps up its road trip this weekend, traveling to Richmond, Va., to face league foe Richmond in a three-game set. The Spiders were picked to finish ninth in the A-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll after failing to make the tournament a year ago.

Fans can follow the @dcbaseball_ Twitter account for in-game updates, as well as live stats and video via the links provided.

SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Richmond enters the weekend at 19-16, most recently suffering from an extra-inning 11-2 loss to VMI Wednesday. The Spiders took two-of-three from A-10 foes George Washington last weekend, and also won their series against UMass. Senior Vinny Capra leads the way for Richmond, posting a .346 average. The shortstop leads the league in walks (26) and has a team-high 28 runs and 46 hits. Grad transfer Tyler Plantier also boasts an above .300 clip at .343, while fellow senior Kyle Adams tops the squad with four long balls.

As a team the Spiders are hitting at .259, while the pitching staff carries a 3.94 ERA.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is 16-26 all-time versus the Spiders. The teams last faced during Davidson's inaugural A-10 season in 2015, most recently falling 18-4. The squad still won the series, though, taking the first two games 4-3 and 22-7. Now senior Alec Acosta posted three hits, three RBI, and scored twice in the Saturday victory.

COOKIE RETURNS TO RICHMOND
Davidson skipper Dick Cooke returns to Richmond this weekend after playing collegiately for the Spiders and later serving as an assistant coach. Cooke was part of the Spiders' coaching staff when they played in the 1986 Regional, the second ever appearance for the program.

'CATS, SPIDERS, AND OPPONENTS... OH MY
Davidson and Richmond have faced four common opponents this season. The Spiders defeated both Lehigh and Yale, but fell to Duke and dropped two of their three-game set with George Mason. Richmond and Mason also faced each other in an early season non-conference contest, where the Spiders won 16-2. Richmond and Davidson both still have yet to face VCU and Dayton, while Richmond will face Fordham and Virginia, who combined to go 3-1 against Davidson.

LAST TIME OUT
Davidson baseball grabbed revenge Tuesday, besting border-rival Winthrop 12-2 at Wilson Field to split the two-game series this season. Davidson continued with its trademark routine, blasting three round trippers during the contest. Senior Cam Johnson turned in a 3-for-4 day at the plate where he homered and also doubled, while junior Eric Jones went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI, and classmate Justin Lebek launched his fifth long ball of the season. Senior Andrew Born also tallied two hits and scored twice, while sophomore Jaret LaCagnina picked up his first win of the season, tossing three innings of relief where he allowed no walks and struck out two.
