RICHMOND, Va. –
Davidson baseball picked up its seventh straight Friday night victory, downing host Richmond 6-2 at Pitt Field.

The 'Cats move to 24-13, 9-4 while the Spiders drop to 19-17, 5-5.

Sophomore Brett Centracchio had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a homer. Junior Justin Lebek tallied two hits with a double and drove in three, while his classmates Eric Jones scored twice and Max Bazin registered his first career triple.

Senior Connor Gordon continued his dominance from the bullpen, picking up his first save of the season after 1.2 hitless innings, where he struck out two of the final three batters in the ninth. Starter Allen Barry improved to 7-1 on the season, tied for first in the league.

The 'Cats played catch up once again, trailing by a pair of runs heading into the fifth inning, stranding five runners heading into the frame.

Bazin led off with a walk, advancing to second and then third on back-to-back singles from the senior duo of Andrew Born and Cam Johnson. Bazin got the 'Cats on the board after Jones was hit-by-pitch, and then Born tied the game coming home on a single Centracchio sent sailing past the Spiders' second baseman.

Davidson then took the lead, as Lebek sent the ball back to the wall in left center, bringing home both Johnson and Jones.

The 'Cats nearly cleaned house that inning, as Bazin- in his second at bat of the frame- sent the ball sailing to the right field wall, but Richmond's right fielder made an over the shoulder running play into the wall to prevent Davidson from delivering any further damage in the inning.

Jones added cushion for the 'Cats in the seventh, smacking a leadoff double, advancing on a Centracchio groundout, and coming home as Lebek tallied his third RBI of the afternoon, grounding out on a ball down the third base line.

Richmond threatened on multiple occasions, leaving the bases loaded twice. In the eighth, with runners on second and third with just one away, Gordon pitched through the pressure, forcing a lineout and then catching the Spiders looking for the final out and escaping unscathed once again.

Centracchio added insurance on a solo shot in the ninth, blasting his sixth long ball of the season.

Davidson and Richmond face off against Saturday, slated for a 1 p.m. start.
