DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball dropped its Saturday contest with Fordham, falling 5-2 at Wilson Field on a chilly, sleety afternoon.
Juniors Justin Lebek and Max Bazin each collected two hits apiece in the contest, while freshman Alex Mardiney had his second consecutive multi-RBI game, driving in the 'Cats lone two runs in the second inning.
Davidson took the lead in the second after Lebek stroked a two-out single through the left side and then advanced after sophomore Walker Imwalle reached on a two-base throwing error. Mardiney found the gap to bring both home and put the 'Cats up 2-0.
Fordham stole the lead in the sixth, breaking the shutout with a single to left field and then taking the lead on a two-run triple. The Rams added a run in the seventh via error and a run in the ninth on a wild pitch to solidify their 5-2 victory.
Davidson and Fordham will face off in the rubber match, slated for 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Field.
