Baseball Hosts Siena in Weekend Showdown

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball continues its home stand this weekend, welcoming Siena College for a three-game stint beginning Saturday, March 11. The Wildcats and Saints will play a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., with the second game to begin at approximately 3:30. The finale is also slated for a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday.

THE SERIES
Saturday will mark the first time the two teams have faced off in program history.
THE DAVIDSON RUNDOWN
The 'Cats are coming off an impressive 11-2 victory over Gardner-Webb Wednesday, where sophomore Josh Hudson delivered a career-best performance in his second ever collegiate start. The righty hurled a personal-best five innings and stuck out eight, allowing just one run and scattering four hits. The eight Ks was the second most recorded by a Davidson pitcher this season (Durin O'Linger, 9 Ks, 6.0 IP).
Senior Brian Fortier continued to carry a hot bat, going 3-for-5 with a home run and double, two runs scored, and two RBI. The top four hitters in the lineup (juniors Cam Johnson and Alec Acosta and senior Will Robertson and Fortier) combined for nine of Davidson's 11 hits, including Johnson doubling twice for the second time this season.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Siena arrives in North Carolina with a 2-9 ledger, most recently picking up the series win against Murray State, winning their first and final games, 8-3 and 9-8. The Saints are led by freshman outfielder Jonathan Crimmin, who posts a .364 clip, and sophomore infielder Brian Kelly, who boasts .333 and is tied with a team-high nine hits and five runs. Senior Dan Swain has plated a squad-best eight runs and also has nine hits, currently hitting at .237.
