DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson baseball will take to the road for the first time this season, traveling just a little bit up the road to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face its first ACC opponent of the year in Wake Forest.

Fans can follow the @dcbaseball_ Twitter account for in-game updates, as well as the live stats and video streaming links provided.

THE SERIES
Tuesday marks the 128th meeting between the two squads, with Wake holding the advantage at 97 wins. The Demon Deacons took both contests last season, narrowly edging out the 'Cats 7-4 and 7-6. Then-junior Brian Fortier and then-freshmen Max Bazin and Eric Jones each turned in two hits in the 7-6 loss, with Bazin scoring twice. In the 7-4 loss, Fortier again led the squad, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Davidson did not play Wake in 2015, and split the series in 2014, falling 4-3 in 12 innings before bouncing back to take a 7-6 victory.

THE DAVIDSON RUNDOWN
After slugging four home runs (including two three-run bombs in one game) and leading the Wildcats to a 3-1 ledger last week, senior Brian Fortier was named a National  and League Player of the Week, tallying eight hits, nine RBI, and scoring six times as he posted a monster 1.167 slugging percentage. Fortier has now surpassed his combined total of homers from his first three seasons. Classmate Will Robertson also reached a new career high, smacking two doubles Saturday, his first multi-extra base hit game of his career, while catcher Jake Sidwell matched Fortier with a team-best six runs during the four games.

The 'Cats pitching staff also delivered solid performances, as Saturday starter Josh Smutzer and Sunday starter Allen Barry each picked up their second wins of the season. Ace Durin O'Linger took a no decision Friday, but reached a new career high after striking out nine. Senior Westin Whitmire recorded two saves, now in need of just one to move into third place in program history for career saves. He currently has 12.

SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Wake comes into Tuesday with a 4-4 record, most recently taking two-of-three from USC in three high scoring affairs. The Deacs are the second of a handful of teams who received votes in the national preseason polls, and are led offensively by Jonathan Pryor, who has 17 hits and has scored 12 times. Wake also boasts a National Player of the Week in first baseman Gavin Sheets, who came off a week where he registered 16 RBI, going 10-for-17 with three homers, two doubles, and scored nine times.

THE MOUND MAKEUP
Taking the bump for Wake Forest will be freshman right-hander Colin Peluse, making his first collegiate start. Peluse was named a 2016 Honorable Mention All-American in high school and is just now returning to his stride from Tommy John surgery two years ago. The 'Cats will send sophomore Andrew Ashur to the bump, also making his first collegiate start. Ashur has made three appearances out of the bullpen this year, posting a 2.45 ERA.

UP NEXT
The 'Cats return to Wilson Field this weekend for another round-robin style tournament, welcoming Butler, Bucknell, and Hartford.
