DAVIDSON, N.C. –
Davidson baseball swept the weekend, picking up a 5-2 win Sunday over visiting Fairleigh Dickinson at Wilson Field.

The 'Cats improve to 5-2 on the season, while the Knights remain winless at 0-6.

Davidson used just seven hits to plate its five runs, led by sophomore shortstop Max Bazin's 2-for-4 day, where he doubled and also scored. Senior Tyler Agard added two RBI as sophomore pitcher Allen Barry picked up his second win of the season, working five innings, scattering four hits while allowing just two runs and striking out six. Senior Westin Whitmire picked up his second save of the season, now just one away from ranking third in program history for career saves.

The Knights got on the board right away, using a bunt single and passed ball to get their leadoff man in scoring position, and then scored on a double down the left field line.

The Wildcats finally broke through in the bottom of the 3rd, when senior Jake Sidwell pushed a single back up the middle and moved up to third after classmate Brian Fortier put a perfectly placed ball in shallow right field. They then sought help from another veteran, as Will Robertson repeated Fortier but this time to left field, bringing in Sidwell for the equalizer.

Bazin then knocked the ball into deep right center, bringing home Fortier, and a fielding error brought in both Robertson and Bazin for the 'Cats to go up 4-1.

The Knights tried to chip away in the 5th with a solo shot to right field, but the 'Cats tacked another run on in the bottom of the 6th to solidify their 5-2 victory.

Junior Cam Johnson reached on another FDU miscue, and then came home as sophomore Eric Jones connected for a ball that gave the Knights some trouble, allowing Jones to take second and Johnson to score.

Davidson returns to action Tuesday for their first road game of the season, traveling to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face 2016 NCAA Tournament participant Wake Forest.
