DAVIDSON, N.C. – Jon Axel Gudmundsson scored 22 points and Peyton Aldridge added 20 to lead Davidson past VMI, 74-51, in non-conference men's basketball action Tuesday evening at Belk Arena.
With the school's all-time leading scorer and two-time NBA MVP/Champion Stephen Curry in attendance, Gudmundsson finished 10-of-12 from the free-throw line, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 steals.
Aldridge also recorded 7 boards and handed out a game-high 7 assists for the Wildcats.
A two-possession contest with 8:37 to play, Davidson (4-3) put the game out of reach with a 17-4 run, pushing the lead to 68-49.
The Wildcats were impressive at the defensive end, holding the Keydets to just 38 percent shooting.
Despite a sluggish start, Davidson had 11 assists on as many field goals in the opening half, before going to the break up, 34-27.
In addition to a 38-30 advantage on the glass, the Wildcats forced 17 turnovers, which resulted in 30 points at the other end.
Austin Vereen led three VMI (3-5) players in double figures with 12 points.

Davidson will enjoy an 11-day break for exams before returning to the hardwood for a 2 p.m. contest at Virginia on Dec. 16.
