BOONE, N.C. – Despite a double-double from Peyton Aldridge (17 pts, 10 rebs), Davidson suffered a 78-62 setback at Appalachian State in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday evening at the Holmes Center.
Ronshad Shabazz (18), Justin Forrest (16) and Griffin Kinney (16) scored in double figures for the Mountaineers, who shot 58.3 percent in the second half to finish at 49.1 percent overall.
In addition, Appalachian State (4-3) got to the line 28 times, while the Wildcats went just 1-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Davidson (2-2), the nation's top 3-point shooting team (per game) entering the contest, finished just 9-of-33 from long range.
Trailing 12-2 after starting just 1-of-15 from the floor, the Wildcats cut the deficit to four midway through the opening period, before App State responded with another spurt to lead 36-23 at the half.
After Davidson used a 19-7 run to make it a four-point contest, 46-42, the Mountaineers reeled off seven straight and eventually stretched the margin to as many as 18, to put the game out of reach.
Senior Oskar Michelsen and sophomore Jon Axel Gudmundsson also went over the 10-point plateau for the 'Cats with 14 and 11, respectively.

Davidson will conclude its three-game road swing Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest at cross-county rival Charlotte.
